I call this website a “theme park” (intending the play on words).
Since I hit 80, and registered the domain name, I have always wanted it to be a kind of fairground—a collection of rides and stalls—inviting visitors to experience something, to meet a challenge or to pick something up. The first complete computer app that I coded was an “adventure game”, and I hope there are signs of that here, too.
Some contributions put forward views. I include on this site a tool for making discussions really work, but my contributions here are designed simply as challenges, not invitations to discussion. You might prefer a proper discussion of some of the issues I write about, in which you could put forward your own views. I will be delighted if anything I have written here makes you want to put your own views into words. But you will need somewhere else to do so.
You will find no comment forms on the site, or even ‘Like’ buttons.
For what it is worth, I believe profoundly in discussion. Our progress on this planet owes everything to discovery and discussion. Here, however, I am just trying to create a website of another kind, one which is entertaining—and occasionally stimulating—to wander round. Or get lost in.
